Wenger: Ozil’s body language goes against him

Arsene Wenger has defended Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil following recent criticism of his performances.

Some pundits and fans have urged the German to work harder without the ball following the Gunner’s back-to-back defeats to Manchester City and Everton.

With nine goals and five assists to his name in all competitions there is no doubt the 28-year-old is contributing in an attacking sense this season.

And Wenger thinks Ozil actually works much harder than people give him credit for.

“He has to do his job like everybody else and usually he does it well,” Wenger said speaking at a press conference on Friday.

“His main strength is when we have the ball.

“He works much harder than people think and his body language sometimes goes against him. He does his part very well.”
