Kyle Walker insists Tottenham can handle the pressure of challenging for the Premier League ahead of their Nissan Super Sunday clash against Manchester United.

Spurs currently sit in fifth, six points ahead of United, though crucially they are seven points behind leaders Chelsea going into the weekend's fixtures.

And despite losing just once in 14 league games, Spurs have drawn six times - a feat that can only be matched by Middlesbrough and United.

With Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City also occupying the Champions League spots, Walker is aware that Spurs must convert these draws into wins if they are to challenge for the title come May next year.

"We're pushing. As we showed last season, we can cope with it," Walker told Sky Sports. "We've been there in the top four, so hopefully we can do what we did last season - get on the accelerator and turn the draws into wins.

"Man City were flying and Liverpool have been steady all the way through. Chelsea didn't have the best of starts and they've come through well.

"United are always going to be there. They've got some fantastic players throughout the team and they're always going to be there or thereabouts. Arsenal are the same."

Walker says the game against United comes at a good time after their 5-0 demolition of Swansea was followed up with a 3-1 win over CSKA Moscow at Wembley in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Those two wins in December came after a poor two months where Tottenham won just twice in 11 games, which ultimately saw them drop out of the Champions League and lose ground on Chelsea in the Premier League.

And Walker hope that Spurs can put that bad patch firmly behind them ahead of a busy Christmas schedule.

"From recent weeks we've lacked the goals we've wanted, so to put in five against Swansea before finally getting the win at Wembley, hopefully it's the turning point," he added.

Danny Higginbotham explains how Michael Carrick and Victor Wanyama will play a key role in determining who comes out on top at Old Trafford

"Sometimes you have bad patches and you have to deal with it as a team collectively. We're all in it together, that's from the players through to the coaching staff.

"We've come out of it well. A few results didn't go our way but we are still up there, and that's where we want to be.

"Hopefully we can keep moving forward now because it's a busy Christmas period and this is where it usually determines where you will finish up."

Spurs have been hit by injuries to key players in the early stages of this season, with Harry Kane missing 10 games due to an ankle injury suffered in mid-September.

The striker's return has been a welcome sight for Spurs fans, and Sunday's match against United could see defender Toby Alderweireld make his first start since suffering a knee injury eight weeks ago.

"Kane is always going to get you goals, he's proven that the last two seasons. In front of goal there's no one better," Walker said.

"As a full-back, having Toby next to me - I have missed him because he's a rock in defence - but Eric Dier stepped in fantastically well and we have a good relationship together on and off the field.

"These players coming back will only make us better. Hopefully we've had the little blip is enough to then march on now."
