West Brom manager Tony Pulis was quick to highlight Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s strong challenge, but conceded that his early header left the Baggies in a difficult position.
“The first goal obviously was a real kick in the teeth for us,” said Pulis.
It was a poor one to concede and it took a while for us to get going again. We needed to make sure we stayed in the game but they scored the second at a good time for them and that took the steam out of us a bit.
“It’s been a long week. We’ve played three tough games and you can’t criticise the players too much. They gave everything.”
Pulis was then asked about the confrontation between Marcos Rojo and Salomon Rondon in which the West Brom striker’s slap to the face when unnoticed by the referee.
But, the Baggies boss was quick to turn his attention to Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s earlier strong foul.
He quizzed: “Are you just going to mention ours? What about Zlatan’s challenge [on Craig Dawson]? That’s a worse one than the other one.”
