Klopp: Don’t ‘moan’ about tactics, we must adjust

Jurgen Klopp has said that Liverpool must “work on” trying to counter sides who play more defensively against them.
The Reds were held to a 0-0 draw by Southampton on Saturday, a result which, coupled with Chelsea’s win over Middlesbrough, saw them lose top spot in the Premier League.
Klopp’s side were by far the more attacking at St Mary’s, registering 15 shots to Southampton’s three, as the hosts set out to thwart the league’s most potent front line.
Our Matt Stead claims that the fact that teams are changing the way they play against Liverpool is proof that their fear factor has returned.
“I felt we had more possession. My feeling was we had 70%, no problem,” the manager said post-match. “If we play this football then it would be crazy to give us space, so why would they do that?
“That is what we have to work on, it is our job and we have the players for it. It is never easy, you cannot only play counterattack, you cannot only play high-press, you have to prepare for everything.
“There is nothing to moan about, you can’t ask them: ‘Come on, give us a little more space or something?’
“Before the season we had to work on this, and that is what I meant when I say we are happy with the performance against Southampton, because again we did well.
“It isn’t a game where you have 20 chances, we had four or five. That is more than enough, especially how big those chances were.”
