Mauricio Pochettino believes Tottenham were the better side in the 2-1 defeat to league leaders Chelsea.

Tottenham’s 26-year wait for victory at Stamford Bridge was extended after Pedro and Victor Moses provided the comeback victory after Christian Eriksen gave the visitors an early lead.

It was also Tottenham’s first league defeat of the season, but Pochettino is clearly not too downhearted about his side’s performance at Stamford Bridge.

“If we analyse the game we were better,” Pochettino told Sky Sports.

“We competed very well and we were a bit unlucky to concede. The second half we conceded a goal very early. We are disappointed but we need to be pleased for the performance and the way we competed against a very good team.”

“We had the possession and created more attempts than Chelsea. All the stats are for us but football is not just about stats. You need to be clinical and score. It was a competitive game.

“Every game you need to prove. It is tough to compete in the Premier League and the Champions League. We need to look ahead and prepare for the next game.”
