Bournemouth midfielder Jack Wilshere is set to earn an England recall following a four-month absence from the international scene.
Interim England manager Gareth Southgate will name a 23-man party on Sunday for the World Cup Qualifier with Scotland on November 11 and friendly against Spain on November 15, with both matches taking place at Wembley.
Wilshere has not featured for England since the 2-1 defeat to Iceland at Euro 2016 on June 27, but is likely to receive his first call-up from Southgate after proving his fitness while on loan at Bournemouth.
The 24-year-old, who joined the Cherries on a season-long loan from Arsenal in the summer, has completed the full 90 minutes in each of his past three matches.
His Bournemouth team-mate, Adam Smith, is also understood to be close to a call-up, but is unlikely to make to the squad despite being watched by England assistant Sammy Lee at the weekend.
England currently sit top of Group A and will aim to continue their unbeaten start to qualifying against Gordon Strachan's side.
The Three Lions defeated Slovakia 1-0 in September in what proved to be Sam Allardyce's only match in charge, before Southgate assumed control and led the team to 2-0 win over Malta and a goalless draw against Slovenia.
