The Wearsiders overcame a testing festive schedule by twice coming from behind to take a point off title-chasing Liverpool, courtesy of two Jermain Defoe penalties.

The Black Cats striker notched his 10th and 11th Premier League goals of the season from 12 yards after Ragnar Klavan was penalised for tripping Didier Ndong in the first period and Sadio Mane was adjudged to have blocked Sebastian Larsson's free-kick with his arm in the second.

In between those two incidents, referee Anthony Taylor turned down Sunderland's claim for a penalty when Fabio Borini's chip into the area appeared to strike Can's hand.

There was little time for the Liverpool midfielder to get his hand out of the way, but Sunderland boss David Moyes thought his side had a good case.

"It definitely hits the boy's arm," he told Sky Sports. "Do you think the boy's arm should be there? Probably should be because I don't know where else it goes.

"But the ones that were given were definitely penalties, and there could have been a third one."

Hit the video at the top of the story and decide whether Sunderland should have been awarded a third spot kick...
