Pundit urges Liverpool to splash cash on Van Dijk

Sky Sports pundit Tony Cottee thinks Liverpool should beat off the competition and sign Southampton centre-back Virgil van Dijk.
Van Dijk has been linked with a transfer to Manchester City and Chelsea, with the latter reportedly ready to pay £60million to land the Dutchman.
And Cottee thinks the Reds – who have conceded 23 Premier League goals this season – need to get to the front of the queue for Van Dijk as they need a stronger back four.
“I think a centre-half like Van Dijk – if they can get him – will be a huge signing for Liverpool,” Cottee said.
“They do need more strength in depth.
“The way they play, it leads to them needing a strong back four and two strong centre-halves.
“If you’re going to play a pressing game and push forward, which is what he wants, he needs reliable defenders.
“They’re not far away but he’s not quite got it right yet.”
