Karanka confirms Boro deal with PSG for Jese

Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka has revealed that he is trying to persuade PSG winger Jese Rodriguez to join the club on loan.

The French champions have agreed to Jese’s exit after a £20m-plus summer move went disastrously, the Spanish winger starting only one Ligue Un game this season.

Karanka worked with Jese at Real Madrid and is keen to bring him to Teesside for Boro’s campaign against relegation.

AK: "Jese Rodriguez is a player I have worked with and I know how good he is. His next move is important and I hope we can convince him."

Karanka also confirmed that Middlesbrough have turned down an offer from Leicester for Gaston Ramirez.

“No one player is more important than the team, but the offer has to be right for the club before a player will leave,” said Karanka.

Boro are just four points clear of the relegation places and desperately need an injection of creativity; they have scored fewer goals than any other team in the Premier League.

And on Robert Snodgrass, Karanka said: “The club is working. He is a player we like and I like. The club is working with offers with Hull.

“I don’t want to know 100 per cent what is happening, but he is a player I like a lot. I think they rejected our offer, but I don’t know more because the club is doing what they have to do.

“It’s obvious (Hull might prefer not to sell to Boro), but he is a player we would like to bring here. Let’s see what is happening.”
