SILVA LINING FOR JORGE MENDES
It takes seven paragraphs for The Sun’s Antony Kastrinakis to mention that Bernado Silva is a client of Jorge Mendes but we knew from the second Manchester United were linked with a £70m move for a Portuguese midfielder at Monaco. If you think that sounds like an awful lot of money for a 22-year-old with just four goals and four assists in Ligue Un this season, then it’s because it is an awful lot of money for a 22-year-old with just four goals and four assists in Ligue Un this season. At that price, perhaps United should instead be looking at his teammate Thomas Lemar, with his seven goals and four assists. But then he’s not a Jorge Mendes client.

Kastrinakis claims that Real Madrid are also interested in Silva, but then he would say that, assuming – as we do – that the information has come from Mendes.

Apparently Jose Mourinho ‘wants Silva as the playmaker who will provide the ammunition for France ace Griezmann’. Somebody should tell him that Silva has been playing predominantly on the right wing and actually, Lemar creates more chances for his Monaco teammates.

LIVERPOOL AND CHELSEA AMONG BAILEY SUITORS
‘Genk forward Leon Bailey’s Premier League suitors are considering bids for before the transfer deadline,’ is the opening – pretty nonsensical – paragraph from the MailOnline, who say the Jamaican winger  is the subject of £20m interest from Roma and Bayer Leverkusen this month.

‘Liverpool, Chelsea, Everton and Bournemouth have all registered an interest in the 19-year-old forward – but were expecting to wait until the summer to make their move,’ claims the Mail.

A quick Google search tells us that Bailey was previously linked with Manchester United too. We suspect his agent/dad’s hand in all this.

SPURS WANT £20M FOR BEN DAVIES
Is that the going rate for a reserve left-back? Maybe Liverpool should cash in on Alberto Moreno. According to The Sun, Crystal Palace have made a £10m move for the Welshman and been told that Tottenham value him at double the price.

Palace have also bid £10m for Patrick van Aanholt, but Sunderland are – quite sensibly – refusing to sell to a relegation rival. Haven’t they just signed Jeffrey Schlupp? Why don’t they just play him at left-back?

AND THE REST
Marseille are preparing a third bid for West Ham midfielder Dimitri Payet…Aston Villa have had a £6m bid for Middlesbrough striker Jordan Rhodes rejected…Hull are close to signing Olympiakos’ 25-year-old right-back Omar Elabdellaoui…Burnley have made a £7.5m bid for Hull’s 29-year-old midfielder Robert Snodgrass…Burnley are also close to completing a £3.5m deal for Barnsley’s 26-year-old defender Marc Roberts…Middlesbrough’s Uruguay forward Gaston Ramirez, 26, is a £12m target for Leicester City…Stoke are set to make a take-it-or-leave-it £12 million bid for Saido Berahino…
