Hertha Berlin continued their 100 per cent start to the season with a 2-0 win over Schalke on Sunday to move back level on points with Bayern Munich - their hosts on Wednesday.
Former Bayern midfielder Mitchell Weiser and Swiss midfielder Valentin Stocker ensured a third win in as many Bundesliga games this season for the Old Lady, whose only defeat to date came in the qualifying round of the Europa League.
They travel to Munich in midweek with only goal difference separating the only two sides still to have a 100 per cent record.
Opponents Schalke, meanwhile, remain inside the bottom two with zero points from their first three league games under Markus Weinzierl, although they have picked up wins both in the DFB-Pokal and the Europa League.
In Sunday's other game, Mainz got the better of Weinzierl's former club Augsburg with a 3-1 win in Bavaria lifting them to ninth.
Jhon Cordoba set Martin Schmidt's men on their way to victory, although Kostantinos Stafylidis levelled for the hosts before Yunus Malli restored Mainz's lead.
Yoshinori Muto sealed Mainz's first win of the season, although a red card for Jose Rodriguez in stoppage time will mean Schmidt must make at least one change for his side's trip to bottom-placed Werder Bremen on Wednesday.
The midweek round of matches commences with four fixtures on Tuesday, including Borussia Dortmund's trip to Wolfsburg in a repeat of the 2015 DFB-Pokal final.
There are five fixtures on Wednesday, including the top-of-the-table clash and high-flying Leipzig's home game with Borussia Monchengladbach.
