Juventus players have been left ‘perplexed’ and ‘betrayed’ by Paul Pogba’s move to Manchester United.
Pogba secured a world-record transfer to United earlier this summer, bringing to an end his four-year stay in Turin.
The Frenchman joined Juventus in 2012 after leaving United on a free transfer as a teenager.
The Old Trafford club eventually parted with £89.3m to secure the 23-year-old’s return, but it has players at his former club feeling ‘perplexed’ and ‘betrayed’.
According to Italian daily Tuttosport, senior members of the Juventus club, including Paulo Dybala and Gianluigi Buffon, had been told by Pogba that he would be staying.
In an interview last week, striker Dybala said: “‘I’m sure I’ll see Paul once we are retired.”
The Daily Mail adds that Juventus’ initial summer plans did not involve selling the midfielder.
‘The Italian newspaper also revealed that Juventus’s plan for the summer did not involve selling the midfielder.
‘Andrea Agnelli, president of Juventus, and Giuseppe Marotta, director general, had intended to keep the 23-year-old as part of the squad for the coming campaign as Juventus look to break the record for consecutive Serie A titles.
‘Juventus were planning to sell the midfielder at the end of the 2016-17 campaign, believing that they could have secured an even greater fee than the record breaking sum they acquired from United.’
