Guardiola is the ‘Special One,’ not Mourinho – Keane

Roy Keane reckons Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is a more fearsome figure than Manchester United rival Jose Mourinho.

And the former United midfielder, speaking as a pundit on ITV, believes the moniker “The Special One” – often afforded to Mourinho – should be handed across the city to Guardiola.

And following Man City’s impressive 4-0 performance against Borussia Moenchengladbach, Keane hailed the new Spanish manager’s influence so soon at the Etihad.

Keane says he “admires Guardiola’s bold decisions” to decide strong characters in the club such as Joe Hart and Yaya Toure weren’t part of his plans and act on it.

“He said he’s a challenging coach – and it doesn’t look like he messes about,” he added.

“I wouldn’t like to mess with him.

“Two coaches in Manchester. Mourinho reckons he’s the special one, to me this guy is.”

It’s not all good news for Guardiola, whose side has the only perfect Premier League record of four wins from four matches so far this season, with history not proving kind. But that could all change, says Keane.

“We’ve seen City have good stats before and they take their foot off the gas a little bit, but I don’t think it will happen under this guy.”

Keane’s comments come after one of Manchester United’s greatest icons, Sir Alex Ferguson, sought out the City boss after he’d inflicted derby defeat at Old Trafford and gave him a hug.
