Crystal Palace finished their North America tour with a 2-2 draw against the Vancouver Whitecaps.

After a goalless first-half, the game sprung into life in the second-half when former Newcastle, Burnley and Birmingham defender David Edgar opened the scoring to hand Vancouver the lead.

Palace hit back with Fraizer Campbell scoring twice in quick succession to put Alan Pardew's side ahead, but the Canadians secured a deserved draw with Kendall Watson's 78th-minute header.

Both sides had chances to break the deadlock in the opening 10 minutes with Marcel de Jong forcing Julian Speroni into action before Andros Townsend fired an effort wide.

Jason Puncheon was next to go close after being picked out by Townsend but his curling effort was pushed away by Paolo Tornaghi.

Palace continued to push for the opener and Damien Delaney went close, diverting Townsend's cross over the bar from close range.

However, five minutes after the interval the Whitecaps took the lead when debutant Edgar's header flicked off Delaney and past Speroni.

Townsend nearly found an immediate equaliser when he powered over from 25 yards out before substitute keeper Marco Carducci palmed the ball over from Hiram Boateng.

The visitors were soon level though and Townsend was involved again, picking out substitute Campbell, who shot into the bottom corner.

Minutes later, he grabbed his second, chipping the ball over the advancing Carducci to hand the visitors the lead.

Vancouver responded in good fashion and Speroni needed to be at his best to deny Masato Kudo on two occasions but he could not keep out Watson, who powered home a header to level the scores with 12 minutes remaining.

The hosts continued to attack in search of a winner but Speroni kept out Kyle Greig's header as the Eagles their pre-season tour of North America unbeaten.
