Jose Mourinho is confident that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will commit his future to Manchester United for another year.
Ibrahimovic joined the club in summer 2016 on a one-year contract, but he arrived with the option to extend the deal to a further season.
The Swede has been a revelation since moving to Old Trafford on a free transfer, and has already scored 20 goals for the season.
Speaking on Friday, Mourinho confirmed that he expects the 35-year-old to stay for another year.
“I’m totally convinced he is going to stay,” said the manager. He came with the intention to stay two years, and the first year is going better than every expectation.
“He knows we are going to try again to improve next season and try to share with him, in a fantastic way, probably the last year of his career at the highest level.
“So I’m convinced that he’s staying, he’s adapted to the club, to the situation.
“I don’t see any problem with his family.
“I gave him the possibility of a few days off to go to Sweden, but he doesn’t want to, he prefers to stay here.
“So I’m totally convinced he is going to stay. I gave him the possibility of an extra day off to go somewhere to relax, to go to Sweden. He doesn’t want to, he never goes.
“Everything is stable with him so I’m totally convinced he is going to stay.”
