Dominique Badji scored twice as the Colorado Rapids guaranteed a top-two seed and first-round bye in the MLS Cup play-offs with a 3-2 victory over the Houston Dynamo.

The Senegalese forward opened the scoring on 12 minutes and restored the visitors' lead early in the second period after Mauro Manotas had equalised on the stroke of half-time.

Shkelzen Gashi gave the Rapids a two-goal cushion with a long-range strike 11 minutes from time and, although Manotas' second goal two minutes later gave the hosts hope, they could not force a leveller.

The result lifted Colorado within two points of league-leading FC Dallas, and ended Houston's post-season aspirations.
