Arsenal CEO Ivan Gazidis has told supporters that this summer will be a “catalyst for change” after the Gunners’ recent slump.
Gazidis attended a meeting at the Emirates with Arsenal supporters groups amid increasing pressure on Arsene Wenger to step down.
According to a club source who attended the meeting, he repeated a previous message from chairman Chips Keswick decision about Wenger would be “mutual” and communicated “at the right time.”
Gazidis described the current mood as “like trying to land a plane in a crosswind with all the passengers in the cockpit with you”, ESPNFC state.
In addition, he was presented with a survey by the Arsenal Supporters Trust which showed that 78 percent of respondents do not think that Wenger should be offered a new two-year deal by the club.
Some supporters hired an anti-Wenger van to display messages of disapproval prior to the game.
While Gazidis said that the fans’ opinions would be taken into consideration, a decision on Wenger’s future would be made in the best interests of the club long-term.
