Mauricio Pochettino hailed the energy Tottenham showed during their 4-0 win against Watford and says they deserved even more goals.

Mauricio Pochettino has challenged Tottenham to continue winning to put themselves in a position to pounce if Chelsea's title charge falters.

Spurs moved to within four points of the Premier League leaders with a resounding 4-0 victory over Watford at White Hart Lane.

Dele Alli opened the scoring with a curling effort from the edge of the area, before Eric Dier and a goal in either half from Heung-min Son kept Spurs on Chelsea's coattails.

Pochettino stopped short of calling the title race on but demanded his players continue their impressive recent form.

"We need to see ourselves and watch ourselves," he replied when asked if Chelsea could be caught. "It's important we compete with ourselves. We need to be able to win games and be there.

"We feel free, we're in the second position, the gap is four but they have a game in hand.

Kieran Trippier says Tottenham’s 4-0 win rounded off a great week while Heung-Min Son hailed the importance of another three points.

"All we can do is win games, be better every day and be there is Chelsea fail."

Spurs' assured victory maintained their flawless record at White Hart Lane this term. The north Londoners have won 14 of their 16 outings on home turf and are yet to taste defeat in their final season at their iconic ground.

A much-changed Watford side started well but Pochettino was left in no doubt that Spurs deserved their victory.

"Many things impressed me, we played really well," the Argentine added. ""We played with good energy and were very clear in the way in which we tried to beat Watford.

"The team deserve full credit because the energy was fantastic. It was 4-0 but we deserved more goals. The players spoke for me on the pitch and I am very proud of that performance.

"Watford started with good energy, massive motivation and it was key for us to be patient.

Walter Mazzarri was happy with how Watford started their game at Tottenham but admits his side were unlucky to have three great players score against them.

"It was difficult but our tempo was good, it may have been slow at the beginning but sometimes it is difficult given the warm conditions.

"After 15 minutes we controlled and dominated and fully deserved the three points in the end."
