Former football coach Barry Bennell has been charged with eight counts of non-recent child sexual abuse following an investigation by Cheshire Police, the Crown Prosecution Service has confirmed.
The charges against Bennell, a former Crewe Alexandra youth coach, relate to alleged offences against two boys between 1980 and 1987.
Bennell is accused of two counts of indecent assault on a boy aged under 14, indecent assault on a boy aged under 16 and five other offences.
A Crown Prosecution Service spokesperson said: "Today, March 7, former professional football coach Barry Bennell, 63, was informed that he has been charged with eight counts of non-recent child sexual abuse, following an investigation by Cheshire Police
"He will appear via video link at South Cheshire Magistrates' Court on Monday, March 13 in relation to these charges."
